Nationally Known Arizona-Based Stun Gun Company May Build Larger Plant
A law enforcement products company that manufactures around 900 stun guns and 750 body cameras every day is thinking about building a new plant in Scottsdale, Arizona.
Axon Enterprises, Inc., which was formerly named Taser International, produces a wide variety of equipment and tools used by police departments across the country.
Founded in 1991, the company is most known for its stun guns, which are used by well more than 90 percent of public police stations nationally.
That weapon, along with Axon’s digital evidence solutions and body cameras, account for more than $160 million in annual sales.
Earlier this year it was announced that the company was changing its name to Axon, although its Taser guns continue to make up the vast majority of its revenue.
Located at 17800 N. 85th Street in the Scottsdale Airpark, in a 60,000 square foot plant it opened in 2004, the company is now looking at building a 325,000 square foot facility on the east side of the city on land owned by the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.
Details regarding exactly where the facility will be located and a construction date are still to be announced.
