Work could begin sometime next fall on a new 348,000 square foot Ikea outlet in Glendale, Arizona.
As currently planned the store will go up on the southeast corner of Loop 101 and Bethany Home Road.
It will be the second location in Arizona for Ikea, which in recent years has seen a stronger market presence in the southwestern states.
The company currently has 44 stores in the U.S., with 11 located in just Arizona, California, Colorado and Nevada alone.
Ikea opened its first Arizona store more than a decade ago in Tempe, some 20 miles to the southeast of the new planned store.
The Glendale facility will not only house around 10,000 items and 50 home settings designed to exhibit various Ikea products, it will also have a children’s play area, baby room, and 450-seat restaurant.
Construction of the store, which will go up across from the growing Glendale Sports and Entertainment District, is expected to see completion by the fall of 2018.
