The four-story Vagabond Inn motel in El Paso will soon be demolished in order to make way for the construction of a new medical clinic.
Officials with the nonprofit University Medical Center say they want to open what will be a third new satellite clinic in an ongoing effort to expand access to health care to different parts of the city.
In March, UMC opened a 43,000 square foot new clinic on the east side of the city at 1521 Joe Battle Boulevard.
The following month, it opened a 45,000 square foot clinic on the west side of the city at 6600 N. Desert Boulevard.
The new clinic will cost around $13 million to build, with construction slated to begin either later this year or early 2018.
UMC was launched in 1915 in a two-story adobe building just west of downtown El Paso.
