80-Year-Old Classic Late 1940s Arizona Motor Court Building is Up for Sale

A Prescott, Arizona building housing one of the last of the great southwestern motor courts is on the market with an asking price of $3.2 million.

Located at 1130 E Gurley Street, just to the east of historic downtown Prescott, the Apache Lodge was completed just after World War II and has been treasured through the decades for its Moderne architectural design.

“It’s bright turquoise trim and vivid neon lights helped lasso passing travelers with the promise of the mythical Western experience,” the publication Arizona Highways has noted of the lodge’s long-standing presence in what was then a mostly empty desert surrounding.

Advertised as “Prescott’s Place of Taste,” the two-story building which forms a square block, with the middle space once occupied by a swimming pool, measures just over 10,100 square feet.

The structure is classified as a Class C building. It houses 20 units and has seen some recent renovation and upgrade work.

The property, which was used for several scenes in the 1984 film The Getaway, is being listed by the realty firm Prescott Commercial Real Estate.
