Voters in East El Paso Approve Waterworks System Bond

A project seeing the upgrading of an extensive waterworks system in El Paso County has now received significant funding.

By a landslide margin of 72% to 28%, voters in the Haciendas Del Norte Water Improvement District have given their approval to a proposal to fund such a system to the tune of $5 million.

The funding more specifically will go for water main construction work and equipment related to that work.

The water improvement district is located around 24 miles to the northeast of downtown El Paso and stretches from due north of Montana Avenue all the way to the boundaries of Fort Bliss.

The district provides public water service to the growing units one, two, and three of the Haciendas Del Norte subdivision. That subdivision is populated with homes in the price range of $650,000 and on up.

The district was created in 1981 by the Texas State Legislature.
