The increasingly popular Paris Baguette bakery and restaurant chain is planning to expand its presence in Arizona with the building of a new location in the Old Town section of Scottsdale.
The company, known for its wide variety of baked goods and dessert treats, currently has more than 200 stores in the U.S., and has to date been particularly popular on the East coast.
Based in Seoul, South Korea, the company opened its first southern Arizona location inside the Korean grocery store H Mart five years ago. Since then, Paris Baguette has contemplated building just under two dozen locations in the region.
The chain has inspired a spirited loyalty wherever it’s located. In December, a reporter for USA Today visited a Paris Baguette store in Montvale, New Jersey and likened it to the experience of being in a French eatery with “the scent of fresh-baked bread, the crunch of crispy baguettes, the allure of brewing coffee, croissant donuts, and slices of rainbow cake.”
Paris Baguette’s new Scottsdale store is set for 7403 E. 6th Street and will be part of a three-story structure with the bakery on the first floor, the second floor to be used for overflow seating, and the top floor housing a three-bedroom apartment.
Aline Architecture Concepts of Scottsdale is the architect for the project, which will entail mostly demolishing an existing one-story structure at the site but using a portion of it as an existing wall for the new bakery. That existing 2,100-square-foot structure was built in 1983.
