Longstanding Las Cruces Motel from Modernistic 60s Era Up for Sale

Royal Motel postcard

One of the streamlined-designed motels so popular in the southwest in the 1950s and 60s is up for sale in Las Cruces with an asking price of just over $1 million.

Located at 2146 West Picacho Avenue, the Royal Host Motel was opened in 1968 and advertised as featuring “large family rooms, TV, air conditioning, and phones.”

Designated as a “triple A” motel by the American Automobile Association, the inn comprises more than 2,500 square feet and includes both office and restaurant space.

Classified as a Class B structure, the property, on a stretch of thoroughfare lined with motels, also includes vintage front neon signage.

West Picacho Avene is currently part of a reimagining effort coordinated by the City of Las Cruces and asking for public input on how to revitalize the area with an emphasis on “sustainable development and equitable growth.”

The motel is being listed by the Anaheim, California-based T&S Hotel Advisors realtors.
