A nearly 5,000-square-foot building on the southeast side of Tempe that has housed one of the most popular restaurants in the city is now on the market with an asking price of $2.3 million.
Located at 1705 E. Broadway Road, the one-story structure was built in 1975 and sits on a nearly one-acre site.
For nearly two decades, the structure was the home to the restaurant SakeBomber Sushi & Grill, which ceased operations in late August. At the time of that closing, the owners posted a notice on their website saying, “We wish all our dear regulars happiness, health, and wonderful adventures ahead.”
Besides being noted for a wide of Japanese dish offerings, the SakeBomber restaurant was distinguished by its interior design: “Customers enjoyed their sushi at a booth, table, or along the bar in the red-painted dining room with black accents, decorated with lanterns, neon, and string lights,” notes the publication Phoenix New Times.
The structure has always served as restaurant space.
Before SakeBomber, it was a location in the 1970s and 80s for the national chain Village Inn Pancake House, before becoming the site of Zhang’s China Star.
The property is being listed by the Phoenix-based Western Retail Advisors.
