Up to $2 million in funding may soon be available for the renovation of the main library on the campus of Santa Fe Community College in Santa Fe.

Located at 6401 Richards Avenue, the library has a collection of more than 60,000 items, including books and periodicals, and is one of the most used facilities on the school’s campus.

School officials are hoping that voters will approve the $351.6 million state-wide General Obligation Bond 3 in November, which will pay not only for the library’s upgrade, but also the creation of private study rooms for learning and collaboration.

The anticipated community college project is one of handful of higher education facility projects slated for funding by the bond. Other projects include the renovation of the James A. Little Theater at the New Mexico School for the Deaf.

Located at 1060 Cerrillos Road, the School for the Deaf may also see the renovation of its Dillon Hall, the school’s main academic building. Both projects will receive up to $6.5 million in bond funding.

An additional regional project includes general campus-wide facility upgrades, with an emphasis on classroom and lab space improvements, at Northern New Mexico College located at 921 N. Paseo De Onate in Espanola.

Up to $5 million in support from the general obligation bond is slated for work at the Espanola school.
