arizona to see construction of new data center

Nearly 70 acres of land have been purchased in Mesa, Arizona for the construction of a high-tech data center cloud campus.

The Dallas-based Cyrus One, Inc., a real estate investment trust with holdings in carrier-neutral data centers, will build at least five structures inside the Mesa Elliot Technology Park, which will be capable of providing up to 198 megawatts of power.

A global technology giant, Cyrus One currently operates 45 data centers throughout the country, including an earlier Arizona facility it opened in Chandler in 2012.

Listed as a Fortune 1000 company, Cyrus One saw nearly $200 million in first quarter revenue this year.

In a statement, Kevin Timmons, chief technology officer with Cryus One, said his company “continues to see heavy demand for cloud services among new and existing customers in the Phoenix metro area.”

“As the preeminent data center service provider for cloud services, we are always listening to our customer base in terms of where we need to be and what services we need to offer,” Timmons added.
