Plans have been submitted to the City of Denver for the reconversion of a six-story office structure built just over 50 years ago.
The building at 800 Grant Street in the Capitol Hill section of the city has through the decades been the home to any number of companies and is currently owned by the nonprofit County Technical Services Incorporated, an insurance agency serving the counties of Colorado.
An earlier plan proposed doing away with the structure entirely in favor of putting up a new building with residential space. The latest proposal would see the 48,000-square-foot building remaining in place while carving out 52 new residential units in it.
That previous proposal by the Chelsea Investment Corporation of Carlsbad, California envisioned building a seven-story building at the site that would house 76 affordable senior residential units.
The new plans include the building of apartment units ranging in size from studios to two bedrooms, as well as a fitness center. An existing two-story parking garage on the property, reports the Denver Post, “will remain unchanged and continue to serve both residents and guests.”
