Canon City, Colorado Building, Known for Its French Restaurant, is Up for Sale

A building housing one of the most enduringly popular restaurants in central Colorado has hit the market with an asking price of $450,000.

Located at 512 Royal George Boulevard in downtown Canon City, the just over 3,000 square foot structure is a unique local mainstay, having been built in the city’s 1888 frontier days.

Sitting on a less than 1-acre site, the two-story building is the home to Le Petit Chablis French Restaurant, which specializes in such fares as truite rouge amandine, escargots de Bourgogne, and cold smoked salmon served with caviar.

The restaurant opened operations in the building, which was formerly a residence and later housed offices, in the fall of 1989. Categorized as a Class B building, the structure underwent a comprehensive renovation in 1996.

Listed with the Kurt Zerby Real Estate Group of Canon City, the building with its Victorian-era architectural details is in a neighborhood of one- and two-story residential and business structures, some of which are more than 100 years old.

The structure is included within the borders of the Canon City Downtown Historic District, which encompasses around 80 buildings built during a 50-year timeframe beginning in 1870 and designed in Classical Revival and Late Victorian styles.
