Plans have now been announced for building and opening of up to 300 new locations for the most popular bagel chain in the country.
Based in Lakewood, Colorado, the Einstein Brothers Bagel company is also planning to update and remodel roughly half of its existing 730 or so outlets.
The company was founded in 1995 and based on a hunch that Americans would prove every bit as receptive to bagels as they are hamburgers and donuts if only given the opportunity. That hunch proved particularly correct when the company began to offer bagels topped with everything from chocolate chips to cheddar and asiago cheese.
Plans currently call for the company, which is officially called Einstein Bros. Bagels, to build new locations in the Midwest, throughout the South and in the states of the Southwest.
To date, Einstein Bros. Bagels stores have been particularly prominent in the nation’s largest states, with 110 outlets in Texas, 90 in Florida, and just under 60 in California.
The company’s outlets generally measure around 2,000 to 2,500 square feet and are in both free-standing buildings, as well as strip malls and shopping centers.
