The growing Denver-based King Soopers grocery store chain has announced plans to build yet one more new location, this time as part of the developing Copperleaf Marketplace in Aurora.
The project will measure around 123,000 square feet and will also include a nine-pump fuel station.
In a statement, Joe Kelley, president of King Soopers, said the Copperleaf Marketplace location will provide a “convenient, one-stop shopping experience.” He added that King Soopers was “eager to contribute to the continued growth and success of this community.”
The Copperleaf Marketplace, located at the intersection of Copperleaf Boulevard and Quincy Avenue, has a footprint of some 30 acres and is expected to include both retail space as well as a mix of single and multi-tenant buildings.
Launched in 1947, King Soopers has around 120 stores and annual revenue more than $4 billion. Its stores typically measure between 65,000 and 75,000 square feet. The chain, the largest grocery store presence in Colorado, was purchased by the Kroger Company in 1982, but has retained its original name.
With the Aurora project underway, yet one more King Soopers is currently slated for construction in Loveland, on land historically known as the Schmer Farm property. Members of the Loveland City Council last week gave their approval to the creation of a metropolitan district that will help fund the building of new 185,000-square-foot shopping center which will include a King Soopers store.
In January, yet another King Soopers, this one measuring 122,000 square feet, opened in Colorado Springs as part of the new Marketplace at Flying Horse shopping center.
