A mixed-use, vast neighborhood designed to support the massive Taiwan Semiconductor Company plant in Phoenix is in the preliminary planning stage and garnering national attention for its scope.
Officially called Halo Vista, the project will be built adjacent to the site for the new TSMC facility, which is still under construction.
As envisioned, Halo Vista will include thousands of residential units, hotels, office buildings, and green space. Reports indicate that the project could cost at least $65 billion to build.
Based in Hsinchu, Taiwan, TSMC announced plans four years ago to build a $12 billion fabrication plant in Phoenix, with plans later announced to build an additional half dozen factories at the site.
The largest independent semiconductor company in the world, TSMC earlier this year said its new Phoenix facilities will most likely be operational in 2027.
The Halo Vista project, which has been called a “city within a city,” is being developed by the New York-based Mack Real Estate Group and may ultimately comprise more than 2,300 acres.
According to reports, the total number of individual residential units at the project site could near the 9,000 mark. The master plan for the project also calls for two separate districts at the site, one dedicated to manufacturing and the other centered on engineering and research.
The project has captured the imagination of the national media, with stories appearing in such publications in recent weeks as Newsweek and the New York Post.
