A four-story brick structure just to the northwest of downtown Denver may soon be subject to an extensive renovation aimed at creating more residential space.
Located at 2550 Washington Street, what is known as The Point houses around 35 residential units and the same number of for-sale units.
Developed in the year 2000 by the companies Minute Spot and Welton Homes, the project was completed in late 2023 at a cost of $12.2 million.
Now the Goshen Development company of Denver has purchased the property with plans to renovate the existing units. In making the purchase, the company also scooped up units that had belonged to the non-profit Denver-based group Home Communities.
Additional plans include upgrading the exterior of the structure. According to the Denver Business Journal, Goshen also hopes to create retail spaces in the structure designed to include “impactful businesses for the community.”
The Point is in the city’s historic Five Points area, a neighborhood popularly called the “Harlem of the West” that is known for its more than century-old residential structures and mid-20th century jazz clubs.
