denver to tackle new bond-funded bike lane project

A roughly mile and-a half throughway on the northeast side of Denver is slated to soon see new bike lane work.

The project, which will be paid for by bonds approved by voters in November of 2017 as part of the massive Elevate Denver program, will also see the installation of traffic-calming measures on  Green Valley Ranch Boulevard between Tower Road and Picadilly Road.

At an estimated cost of anywhere between $380,000 to $460,000, the project will also include the creation of bike lanes that have a dedicated and protected space, along with bicycle facility elements, new signage and striping, and flex posts.

All work associated with the project will be designed to Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

According to reports, there is still more than $800 million in unspent funds to be used on a variety of projects in the Elevate Denver program.

As presented to voters, the Elevate Denver program designated nearly $70 million for library facility work; $116 million for cultural facilities; $151 million for parks and recreation projects; and $431 million for transportation and mobility projects.

City officials say they hope in the coming months to launch a series of Elevate Denver projects that are already beyond the design phase and ready for work.
