Extensive Luxury Suite Upgrade Planned for Denver’s Popular Ball Arena

One of the most-used indoor sports arenas in the West is in line for a major renovation project.

Located at 1000 Chopper Circle in Denver, the Ball Arena serves a multiplicity of purposes but is most known as the home to the Denver Nuggets basketball team.

Built at a cost of $187 million in 1999, the structure has a seating capacity of just under 20,000 for Nuggets games.  Additionally, the Colorado Avalanche hockey team, as well as lacrosse’s Colorado Mammoth team use the arena.

Now the Denver-based Kroenke Sports and Entertainment company, which operates the facility, has announced plans to substantially upgrade its luxury suites. Two dozen of the suites will see work, with 8 situated on the 200 level, and the other 16 on the 100 level.

KSE’s luxury suites plans come as the company is redeveloping the parking lots surrounding the arena. That work includes the building of a 13-story hotel, two residential structures, and a pedestrian crossing over N. Speer Boulevard, just to the northeast of the arena.

Reports indicate that work on the luxury suites will begin in mid-summer.

The Ball Arena is named in honor of the Ball Corporation, the aluminum manufacturing company perhaps most known for its production of glass jars and lids. The same trademark logo that has for years decorated the tops of those lids also serves today as the signage for the arena.
