Plans have been announced for the extensive renovation of the popular and upscale Ritz Carlton hotel in downtown Denver.
The building at 1881 Curtis Street, formerly the home to an Embassy Suites Hotel, will see the renovation of 205 guest rooms and corridors, along with an upgrade of the structure’s spacious front lobby.
Additional work will include updates to 13,000 square feet of conference and meeting room space.
In an interview with the Denver Business Journal, Brad Mills, general manager of the hotel, which is officially called Ritz Carlton, Denver, said the renovations were about “strengthening our position as a luxury provider in the market long term.”
The renovations, initially planned for last year, will begin at the end of this year with work expected to be completed in the spring of 2027.
The hotel, which measures around 300,000 square feet, last saw an extensive renovation in 2017 that included new lighting and wallcoverings and what was described by one industry publication as “Colorado-inspired décor.”
Built in 1983, the 38-floor hotel is one of the tallest skyscrapers in Denver.
Plans for the hotel’s renovation comes just months after the Ritz Carlton company, which opened its first U.S. hotel in New York in 1911, completed the $100 million upgrade of its iconic Key Biscayne property in Florida.
A price tag for the Ritz Carlton, Denver project has not been disclosed.
