Plans are slowly moving forward for the construction of a facility that will provide affordable housing in downtown Flagstaff.
The organization AllThrive 365, which provides housing, social services, and access to healthcare for what it described as “under-resourced individuals, families, and caregivers,” wants to build the facility in the 300 block of N. Humphreys Street.
To that end, AllThrive has purchased a structure that was formerly the San Francisco de Asis Catholic School, as well as an adjacent house. Last month demolition began on both buildings to make way for the new AllThrive facility.
What is being called the San Francisco Square will see the building of 70 residential units geared for seniors. The second phase of the ambitious project, officially labeled the Aspen Lofts, will center on the construction of additional 65 units designed to house families.
Reports indicate that it will cost just under $33.3 million to build the project’s first phase, with the group having thus far secured around $26 million.
AllThrive traces its roots to 1974 when it was known as the Foundation for Senior Living. The group has since changed its name to provide what it has described as a more encompassing approach to care.
At the time of the name change, chief executive officer Tami Bohannon remarked that the rebrand will allow the group to “grow with the community we serve while maintaining the trusted services and support that have been the foundation of our work.”
Because fundraising for the facility is currently underway, a timetable for its construction has not yet been announced.
