A student housing project that has been in the talking and planning stage for upwards of five years in Flagstaff at last appears to be getting some traction.

The Mill Town apartment complex, to go up at 1801 S. Milton Road, will see the construction of 265 residential units, along with around 19,500 square feet of commercial space.

The 12.2-acre site for the project was formerly home to offices and facilities for the Arizona Department of Transportation, which were demolished around 5 years ago.

That site is additionally located roughly a mile to the northeast of the main campus of Northern Arizona University.

Spearheaded by commercial estate developer Vintage Partners, which has offices in Scottsdale, the project was earlier envisioned as having 348 residential units and 22,300 square feet of commercial space.

The newest version, approved by the Flagstaff Planning and Zoning Commission, will include one- to five-bedroom units, and parking space for just over 500 vehicles.

The project is now on its way to the Flagstaff City Council for review.

Vintage Properties specializes in adaptive reuse and asset revitalization projects.
