Plans have now been made official for the repurposing of a three-story building in Pueblo that will soon house city offices.
Located at 101 W. Riverwalk Place, the building was formerly the headquarters of the group Professional Bull Riders, which also owned the structure.
Members of the Pueblo City Council have voted in favor of purchasing the building and upgrading it for new offices and meeting space.
Noting that several city departments are housed in offices across Pueblo, supporters of purchasing the Riverwalk Place structure have maintained that it would be more cost effective to house upwards of a dozen departments in the new building.
In a statement sent to the Pueblo Chieftain newspaper, Mayor Heather Graham said the purchase will not only allow for a “safer environment” for city employees but will prove more efficient for residents as a “one-stop shop when interacting with our city departments for development, public improvements, taxes, and other business needs.”
The Professional Bull Riders group announced it was moving out of Pueblo late last summer and setting up new headquarters in Fort Worth.
The Riverwalk Place building is designated as a Class B structure and located within the boundaries of Union Avenue Historic Commercial District.
