An effort is underway to secure support for the redevelopment of a historic one-story structure in downtown Fort Collins.
Located at 160 W. Mountain Avenue, the William S. Hill Building was completed in 1908 and for generations has housed a series of law offices.
The 13,700-square-foot structure was acquired two years ago by the Fort Collins-based firm Vuelo Investments with the goal of giving it a new life.
The building, which underwent some renovation work more than two decades ago, sits on a street of mostly one-story retail buildings dating to the 1920s.
Included in the original announced plans for the structure is the addition of an outdoor patio space, updated facades, new windows and lighting, and the restoration of the Hill Building’s architectural elements.
As announced in 2025, an upgrading of the structure will result in the creation of new office, restaurant, and retail space.
Now a move to secure upwards of $72,000 in tax increment financing to help the project along has been submitted to the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority.
If all goes according to plan, work on the Hill Building is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
