A golf course on the edge of the Santa Catalina Mountains in Arizona could see work beginning next summer on the upgrading of its aging water line infrastructure.
Located at 10555 N. La Canada Drive, the Conquistador Country Club was purchased, along with two other local golf courses, by the town of Oro Valley in 2014 for $1 million.
Members of the Oro Valley Town Council have been reviewing plans to both remodel a club house on the property, as well as reconvert an existing restaurant space into a recreational and fitness center.
But central to any plans for the course is the plan to replace water pipes, which are leaking water, at all three of the courses.
Earlier this year, Oro Town Manager Mary Jacobs said it would cost at least $5 million for that work, but now the estimates are topping the $6 million mark.
In response, members of the council may approve a much larger $14 million bond that would cover not only all of the planned the work at the golf courses, but would also pay for replacing leaking water pipes in various sections of the community.
