Growing In-N-Out Burger Chain Contemplating Building New Denver Location

Plans may be in the works for the building of a new In-N-Out Burger outlet around 6 miles to the southeast of downtown Denver.

The project would go up at 1470 S. Colorado Boulevard, as well as on an adjacent lot, and would see the construction of what will most likely be a standard store for the chain restaurant, whose locations usually measure between 3,000 to 3,500 square feet.

To make the project work, an existing one-story brick building on the site that formerly was a location for the Black-Eyed Pea restaurant chain will be demolished. The same goes for a one-story structure at 1480 S. Colorado Boulevard that was once an Arby’s Restaurant location.

Both restaurants operated at the combined site for well over two decades. The Black-Eyed Peas location, part of a chain that has been in some decline for the last several years, ceased operations at the site in 2023. Arby’s closed its doors in December of last year.

The Irvine, California-based In-N-Out Burger has seen its locations grow from less than one hundred in the mid-1990s to more than 400 today. Focusing on the states of the West, In-N-Out opened its first Colorado restaurant in Denver in 2023. The company now has 15 locations in the Centennial State.

In-N-Out Burger restaurants are known for their modernistic designs. The site Archinect has made note of the locations’ “distinct design languages with mid-century California modern aesthetics.” Many of the stores,” Archinect adds, “feature vintage lighting, checker tile flooring, an open kitchen, and clean lines.”
