Growing School District in Longmont, Colorado Anticipating New Construction and Upgrade Projects

Planning is now underway for the construction of five new schools that will be a part of one of the largest school districts in Colorado.

In November, residents in the Saint Vrain Valley School District approved by a 77% to 23% margin Ballot Issue 5C, which proposed spending just under $740 million for a variety of new school construction projects as well as the upgrading of existing facilities.

The construction projects will include the building of a new Montessori school in Longmont, and a career and technical education center some 10 miles to the south in the town of Erie.

Erie, which has seen its population boom from 6,200 residents in the year 2000 to more than 30,000 today, will also see the construction of an elementary school.

The town of Mead, 10 miles to the northeast of Longmont, is also slated for a new elementary school. Mead’s population growth has been less dramatic than that of Erie but has nevertheless more than doubled in the last two decades from around 2,000 to nearly 4,800.

The bond will also fund a reported more than one hundred infrastructure projects across the district that will include any number of electrical, plumbing, safety, and security system upgrades.

The Saint Valley School District takes in parts of Boulder, Broomfield, Larimer, and Weld counties.
