Plans have now been announced for the construction of a 122-room hotel that will go up on a just over 2-acre site near the Denver International Airport.
The four-story structure will be branded as a Candlewood Suites, a chain owned by the Windsor-based InterContinental Hotels Group that specializes in extended-stay offerings with one and two units and full kitchens.
According to City of Denver documents, the project will be built at 18111 E. 63rd Avenue, roughly 18 miles to the northeast of downtown Denver. The site is currently vacant.
As proposed, the hotel will include a buffet area and fitness center, as well as a gazebo with outdoor barbeque space.
The land was purchased for around $1.5 million in late 2023, with the Salt Lake City-based Richardson Design Partnership selected as architect for the new hotel.
The project is currently being reviewed as part of the city’s Design Review Process.
Launched in 1995, the Candlewood Suites has around 400 locations worldwide, with most of its domestic properties up and running in the Middle Atlantic states and Texas.
To date, the brand has opened five hotels in Arizona, two in New Mexico, and eight in Colorado.
