A two-day auction of one of the most famous multi-floor structures from El Paso’s golden age of architecture is scheduled to start on December 14.
Located at 215 N. Mesa Street, the Roberts-Banner building was completed during the first decade of the last century and was designed by the venerated architectural firm of Trost & Trost. The structure was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
Designed in the Romanesque style, the building was one of the first of its kind in El Paso to be composed of reinforced concrete.
For decades the U-shaped building housed a mix of upper floor offices occupied by any number of engineers, lawyers, oil company executives, and physicians, before experiencing increased vacancy rates beginning in the 1980s.
In the past two years, the building has been extensively renovated as a luxury hotel that includes a food hall, entertainment venue, and rooftop bar.
The auction, with a stated starting bid of $650,000, is being handled by Plano-based Boldface Hospitality Advisors.
