A growing home furnishings company based in Boston has announced plans to create a 140,000-square-foot retail space in Denver.
Wayfair Incorporated will occupy two floors in the 81-acre Shops at Northfield Plaza located at 8298 N. Northfield Boulevard.
Launched in 2002, Wayfair has warehouses across the country that equal, according to the New York Times, “the size of 17 football fields, with racks that stretch 12 meters to the ceiling.”
With revenue last year more than $11.9 billion, the company has recently extended its retail footprint to Yonkers, New York; Atlanta; and Wilmette, Illinois. A press release from the company said that Wayfair is “accelerating the momentum of its physical expansion.”
The company’s stores range in size from 114,000 square feet to 150,000 square feet.
In a statement, Lisa Lefkowski, Wayfair vice-president of merchandising, said the new Denver location will “introduce Wayfair to new customers.”
The new Wayfair location was formerly a Macy’s outlet and one of nearly 70 stores that company closed earlier this year.
It is thought that the new Wayfair store, which will feature 19 departments, will be open for business in late 2026 after the Macy’s space has been repurposed.
