Construction is expected to begin sometime next spring on a nearly 12-acre site in Mesa, Arizona.
The project belongs to the Las Vegas-based Fore Property Company, which is a commercial real estate enterprise, and will see the building of just over 230 apartment units and 20,000 square feet of retail space.
Fore Property wants to build within what is called Hawes Crossing, a master planned community off East Elliot Road. According to published sources, Hawes Crossing is eventually expected to see the building of up to 2,000 single-family homes.
Those homes, in turn, will provide housing for as many as 5,000 residents, making it a particularly large endeavor in larger Mesa, which has a current population of 517,000 people.
The Phoenix Business Journal is reporting that the housing component at Hawes Crossing will comprise around half a dozen acres, while “the remaining portion of the site will encompass the retail portion.”
The Fore Property Company is described as a “vertically integrated real estate organization,” and one of the largest multifamily developers in the country. The company has taken on multi-level, modern housing projects in Las Vegas, as well as Oxnard, California; Tigard, Oregon; and Kissimmee, Florida, among many other places.
The project comes as Mesa continues to enjoy unprecedented growth, making it now the third largest city in the Grand Canyon State after Phoenix and Tucson.
When Arizona was first beginning to experience what would turn out to be an explosive Sunbelt growth starting in the 1960s, its population stood at around 40,000.
