A roughly 19,000-square-foot structure in an industrial section of Albuquerque is now on the market with an asking price of $1.8 million.
Located at 601 Haines Avenue NW, the building defines the ups and downs of such spaces in industrial parts of any city that have seen great and subtle changes.
Built in 1950, the structure was for the first decade of its existence a local outlet for the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company, the national manufacturer of high quality, thick flat glass, and mirrors.
A necessary stopping point for local contractors, the store also stocked a wide variety of paint, and an abundance of brushes, rollers, and trays.
When the company advertised its Christmas wares in 1952, it also announced, “We are giving every lady who comes to our store an attritive two-sided pocketbook mirror.”
Sometime after Pittsburgh moved out of the property, it housed for more than a decade the Five Foreign Auto Salvage company, which is now located at 5404 Broadway Boulevard.
Around 2023, the building was used by the company Downtown Import, which also specialized in auto and truck recycling.
Designated as a Class B structure, the building sits on a just over two-acre site and has two front-facing roll-up doors, interior office space, and a mezzanine level.
The property, located in an officially defined Opportunity Zone, is being listed by the realtors Resolut Re of Albuquerque.
