The American Furniture Warehouse, which is based in Meridian, Colorado and is a strong market presence in the West, has announced plans to expand its presence in the Centennial State.
Already operating one extensive warehouse in Colorado Springs, the company has submitted paperwork for the construction of a second such facility, this one measuring around 345,000 square feet.
The structure, which has long been in the planning phase, will go up on the east side of the city, near the intersection of North Powers Boulevard and Dublin Boulevard.
It is expected that it will cost upwards of $45 million to complete the new facility.
Launched in 1975, American Furniture Warehouse has store locations throughout Arizona, Colorado, and Texas. Earlier this year, the company opened its latest store in Surprise, Arizona.
With annual revenue of around $900 million, the company is known for its wide variety of living room, dining room, and home office furniture.
The size of the American Furniture Warehouse outlets varies from place to place: in Webster, Texas, the company has a 354,000-square-foot warehouse and a 146, 600-square-foot showroom; while in Katy, Texas, the warehouse measures around 504,600 square feet, with a 150,000-square-foot showroom.
It is not yet known when work on the new Colorado Springs building will be completed.
