Mesa to See Construction of Multi-Billion Dollar Data Center Facilities and Campus

After earlier securing the site in a state land auction, the company Novva Data Centers appears to be on the verge of building a vast new data center campus near the intersection of Warner and Ellsworth roads in southeast Mesa, Arizona.

The project will see the construction of five individual data centers facilities, as well as a separate office building, for a combined more than 1.1 million square feet.

The West Jordon, Utah-based Novva also plans to build an 85,100 square foot warehouse at the site, as well as two retail structures with a combined 39,250 square feet.

Novva put in a winning bid of $62.7 million to secure the site’s 165 acres in an auction conducted by the Arizona State Land Office in August of 2023. At the time of that purchase, Novva officials said they were searching for a suitable property for the company’s first Arizona project but offered no other details.

Specializing in both wholesale and multi-tenant colocation data facilities in California, Colorado, Nevada, and Utah, Novva has said that it plans to invest upwards of $3 billion on its Mesa facilities.

Besides featuring a water-free air-cooling system, the Mesa project, according to a company press release, will emphasize muted colors on its structures that will “connect to the land and evoke calm.”

“Patterns and shadows, created by natural light and apertures,” will additionally enhance the effect. The firm AE Urbia, also of South Jordan, is the architect and engineer for the project.

Construction on the campus may begin later this year, with the first facilities completed in late 2026. Given the vast size of the project, it is expected that it will take a full decade to fully build it out.
