Metro Phoenix to See Construction of Sprawling Data Center Campus

Plans have now been announced for the building of a new data center industrial park in southern Arizona that is being billed upon completion as the largest such park of its kind in the country.

The Phoenix-based Vermaland says the project will encompass 3,300 acres and is expected to cost around $33 billion to complete.

“This development positions Arizona to capture a meaningful share of the AI infrastructure boom,” Kuldip Verma, chief executive officer of Vermaland, said in a statement.

“With power costs significantly below California and growing tech company demand, we’re creating the next generation of digital infrastructure,” he continued.

As announced, the data center complex will be capable of supporting up to 3 gigawatts of power capacity and will be built in in a designated Opportunity Zone within the Phoenix/Tucson corridor.

Launched in 2006 as a land development and land banking company, Vermaland to date has a portfolio that takes in more than 25,000 acres.

The company is hoping to secure a rezoning from Pinal County for the site it plans to build on sometime in early 2026.
