The next step has been taken in the planned construction of new student housing on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado.
Members of the school’s Board of Regents have given their approval to a public-private partnership with the Boulder-based developer Morgan Stone Everett for a project that will see the building of both apartment units and suites.
As earlier announced, the housing will be built near the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Regent Drive, and upon completion will provide space for nearly 1,700 students.
In a statement, Todd Haggerty, senior vice chancellor for finance and business at the university, said that available student housing “is one of the most critical tactics that we can do to improve our student outcomes, student success, and ultimately, graduation.”
According to statistics earlier released by CU Boulder, while the school currently has enough residential on-campus space for 8,700 students, more than 14,000 students, judging by the most recent enrollment figures, are compelled to find housing elsewhere.
Plans currently call for construction to begin on the project sometime next summer, with an anticipated completion date in time for the fall 2028 semester.
