According to published reports the 65-acre Santa Fe Studios may be up for sale, although an asking price has not been revealed.

Located at 1 Santa Fe Studios Road, the facility has been used by several motion picture companies since its opening 14 years ago, including Warner Brothers, 20th Century Fox, and Netflix.

But the pace of production has recently slowed at the facility, reflecting a larger statewide trend. Statistics released by the New Mexico Film Office indicate that the economic impact of the state’s film tax credit fell from $1 billion in fiscal year 2025 to $475.5 million for this fiscal year.

In a release issued by CRBE Group Incorporated, which is handling the listing, the property is described as a “state-of-the-art media campus in one of the most production-friendly jurisdictions in the United States.”

The facility features nearly 80,000 square feet of built space, including two separate sound stages measuring 19,000 square feet. There is also a 57-acre backlot.

The studio bills itself as having “world-class sound stages” that include a 17,000-square-foot warehouse and 4,600 square feet of mill space.

The studio was opened in 2011 with the help of $10 million grant earlier issued by Democrat Governor Bill Richardson. At the time of its opening, Erit Witt, who had formerly served as Richardson’s chief of staff, remarked to the Albuquerque Journal that the Santa Fe Studios world be “looking to pull in smaller productions that don’t fit the bigger studios.”

Partly due to the presence of the studios, Moviemaker Magazine listed Santa Fe as the number one best place nationally for filmmakers in a city with a population of up to 300,000.

The listing of the studios, observes the Hollywood Reporter in looking at New Mexico’s overall film industry, will test “buyers’ willingness to bet that Hollywood studios’ production spending won’t contract and may increase in the state.”
