Plans for the construction of a new three-building, 600,000-square-foot data center in north Denver continue to move forward.
The project, which belongs to the company CoreSite, will go up on a 15-acre campus at 5050 Race Street and is expected to be built in three phases.
Once the company has secured city approval and completed its site development plan, the first phase will see construction of an initial 97,000 square feet of building space.
Founded in 2001, CoreSite has emerged as a major player in the massive data center market, operating nearly thirty such facilities across the country.
In getting to this most recent project, CoreSite has decided to forego a $9 million tax break through the Denver Economic Development and Opportunity office, although reports indicate that the company may pursue a tax incentive arrangement for the later phases of construction.
The size of the completed data center is seen in a series of numbers: according to city documents the facility will be capable of providing up to 75 megawatts of power. It will also require the usage of just over 800,000 gallons a day to cool its systems.
A subsidiary of the Boston-based American Tower Corporation, CoreSite describes itself as a company dedicated to helping service providers “monetize and future-proof their digital business.”
