Funding has been secured for the construction of a condominium complex in Denver that will see the building of nearly two dozen affordable units.
The Colorado Housing and Finance Authority has announced that it is finalizing upwards of $5.7 million for a project called the Wolff Street Flats, which will go up at 4801 W. 10th Avenue, just to the west of downtown Denver.
The project, to be built in the city’s Villa Park neighborhood, will see the construction of a three-story building with the units fronted by balconies.
The funding is more specifically coming through the CHFA’s Drive It Home Construction Loan program, a $50 million bond investment effort approved last year by the Colorado State Legislature.
Developed in a partnership by the Modus Real Estate and Osina Development, both of which entities are based in Denver, the project will feature condo units geared for households earning around 80% of Area Median Income or less.
Created in 1973, the CHFA is dedicated to increasing affordable housing throughout Colorado. According to public documents, the agency has invested upwards of $40 billion in housing efforts across the state.
In comments published by the Denver Business Journal, Scott Speil, the founder of Osina, said the Wolff Street Flats project will serve a “very underserved niche in the Denver housing market, offering high-quality, efficiently designed condominium units to the residents of the Villa Park/West Colfax neighborhoods.”
If all goes as anticipated, work should begin on the condominium project later this summer, with an expected completion date of August of 2027.
