New Home Depot-the Big Retailer’s Mostly Western Expansion Plans

Plans are in the works for the building of a new Home Depot store in the city of Buckeye which will measure around 137,300 square feet and add to the company’s ever-expanding national footprint.

The store, which is expected to cost $11.6 million to build, will go up on nearly a dozen areas in the Buckeye Commons shopping center at 20410 W. Roosevelt Street. Just months ago, Home Depot opened another new store in the city of Maricopa at 42410 W. Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.

The largest home improvement retailer in the country, Home Depot, which is based in Atlanta, currently has more than 2,300 stores, with expansion efforts seemingly untouched by higher interest rates and tariff wars.

Altogether, Home Depot has said that it wants to build 11 new stores at various locations across the country before the end of this year. In a statement, the company said the new store openings are “more than just ribbon-cuttings; they’re investments in local economies and a commitment to meeting customer demand for brick-and-mortar shopping experiences.”

A particularly strong presence in the West is seeing the completion of Home Depot outlets this spring in the cities of Anna and Manor in Texas, as well as Moscow, Idaho. Other new stores are planned later this year for Caldwell, Idaho, and Forney, Texas.

In the last two years alone, the company has opened nearly two dozen new stories nationally.

In a statement to the publication USA Today, Home Depot remarked: “With economic uncertainty at a high, many retailers are feeling the squeeze and shuttering their storefronts across the US, but The Home Depot is doing the opposite.”

Launched in 1978, Home Depot has seen a growth in the size of its average stores through the years from around 60,000 square feet to just over 105,000 square feet.
