Plans are advancing for the construction of a project that will see just over one hundred residential units in Lake Havasu at the site of a popular shopping village.

The project, which last month won the approval of the Lake Havasu City Planning and Zoning Commission, will see the building of half a dozen 3-story modular structures housing one- and two-bedroom units.  These units be a part of the larger Shops at Lake Havasu off the 5600 block of Arizona State Route 95.

The apartments will go up on a 4.5-acre site and is a joint project undertaken by the Shops at Lake Havasu and developer Come-Together, also of Lake Havasu.

In a city document, it is stated that the project is intended for “longterm ownership as an apartment community, not condominiums.” According to reports, if the project is built it will be the first such large apartment complex in the city in more than two decades.

In approving the vision for the project, Lake Havasu Planning and Zoning Commission was also giving its ok to a planned development rezone and amended general development plan.

The outdoor 35-acre Shops at Lake Havasu was opened in 2008 and to date includes a JC Penney outlet, as well as PetSmart store and Walmart Super Center, among other retail outlets.
