A plan is in the works to develop a just under 20-acre site in Mesa, Arizona that could result in the building of both a shopping center, as well as restaurants, in the growing city.
As proposed, the plan would go up on a currently vacant site at the northeast corner of S. Power Road and E. Elliot Roads.
That site, some 13 miles to the southeast of downtown Mesa, could also see nearly 8 acres rezoned for housing construction.
According to a conceptual site plan created by the Phoenix-based Butler Design Group, the project would see the building of retail space measuring between 4,800 square feet and 30,000 square feet.
That plan also calls for landscaping and a line of trees surrounding the outer edge of the site.
The project is being proposed by the Saia Family, which has owned the property in question for nearly two decades, and envisions restaurants with outdoor seating, as well as luxury housing in just one section of the site.
The Saias began developing mobile home parks in the 1990s and have since become well-known landowners and developers in the region.
A pre-submittal application for the project has now been submitted to the City of Mesa.
