A new retail plaza, whose location near the Denver International Airport is more than fortuitous, is in the works as developers submit concept plans submitted to the City and County of Denver.
What is being called the Tower Plaza Marketplace will go up on a currently vacant 4-acre site at 18306 E. 64th Avenue, around 6 miles to the southwest of the busy airport.
As proposed, the project will see the building of what will be a 40,000-square-foot retail center. Plans also spell out the building of a 64,300-square-foot hotel with 122 rooms that would be branded as a Candlewood Suites Hotel.
Candlewood Suites is an extended stay hotel focusing on business travelers, which would make its location in this instance near the DIA particularly appealing.
Central to the retail plaza project will be a large grocery store that will serve as an anchor tenant for the plaza. The grocery store space will measure just under 25,000 square feet.
The site in question, in a largely undeveloped but growing part of the city, was purchased last fall for $3.4 million by a limited liability corporation.
Work on the project could begin next year, with an anticipated completion sometime in 2028.
