A long-planned project – adding new senior housing units to metro Colorado Springs – is expected to see first phase construction starting sometime in the fall of this year.
The Wichita, Kansas-based Presbyterian Manors of Mid-America has announced plans to build the facility on a currently vacant site just south of Fillmore Street.
That site is roughly 4 miles to the northwest of downtown Colorado Springs.
As proposed, the $80 million project will see the building of up to 234 units during its first phase. Those units will include apartments, and both memory care and assisted living space.
The Presbyterian Manors project comes in the wake of an earlier effort by the Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation of Dallas to build a similar facility at the same 26-acre site.
When plans for what was being called Sentinel Ridge Senior Living went nowhere, Presbyterian Manor moved in to take on the project.
The Aberdeen Ridge Senior Living complex is expected to see its first phase opening in the spring of 2022.
Presbyterian Manors currently has nearly two dozen similar senior residential facilities up and running in both Kansas and Missouri.
Last month one of its facilities in Farmington, Missouri was placed on the U.S. News & World Report’s list for best nursing home of the year.
