Plan to Build New Homes in Santa Fe Gets Planning Green Light

A preliminary plan and subdivision plat for the construction of what could be 80 single-family homes near New Mexico State Road 599 on the southwest side of Santa Fe has won the approval of the city’s Planning Commission.

The Pulte Group wants to build the structures on currently vacant land adjacent to both sides of Caja del Oro Grant Road near the historic centuries-old Agua Fria village.

To go up on a 16-acre site, some 20% of the homes will be designed as affordable.

The project was resubmitted to commission members and reduced from an originally proposed 88 homes after concerns were raised earlier regarding the space between those homes. The latest proposal calls for 20 feet between each structure.

With the changes, the project has also changed from 5.4 dwelling units per acre to 4.9 units per acre.

The commission action follows the planning staff’s approval of the project.
