Plans Proceeding in Flagstaff for Construction of New Healthcare Campus

Members of the Flagstaff City Council could approve a plan this fall that will see the construction of a new healthcare campus in the city.

Northern Arizona Healthcare, which is based in Flagstaff, has long wanted to build a medical center near the Fort Tuthill County Park, some 6 miles to the south of downtown Flagstaff.

The site was formerly home to a National Guard training center.

The project will see the building of two structures, one housing an ambulatory care center, and the other a hospital, to be built over the course of the next four years, as part of a planned 180-acre health and wellness village.

It is thought that it will cost around $750 million to build the next facilities, which will be funded entirely by Northern Arizona Healthcare.

Once city approval is secured, work on the project is expected to begin by the early spring of next year.

It was earlier announced that upon the completion of the Fort Tuthill project, Northern Arizona Healthcare will most likely cease operations in its current primary location just to the north of downtown Flagstaff at 1200 N. Beaver Street.

Founded in 1995 and now the largest healthcare service in the northern half of Arizona, Northern Arizona Healthcare currently operates two hospitals, as well as a series of specialty clinics throughout the region.
