Although an exact construction schedule has not yet been announced, a project that will see the construction of a new 40,000 square foot building belonging to the Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center is moving ahead.
The building is slated to go up on currently vacant land near the center’s main facility at 4801 Beckner Road.
According to reports, Presbyterian wants to separate into two parts an 11-acre site, one measuring around 17 acres and the other 5 acres. The new building would go up on the smaller portion of that site at the southeast corner of Beckner and Rail Runner Road.
In remarks to the Santa Fe New Mexican, Todd Sandman, Presbyterian senior vice-president, said the hospital’s goal is to create a “robust Presbyterian Health Park surrounding the Santa Fe Medical Center where the community has access to a wide range of health care services they need.”
The four-story, 342,000 square foot Presbyterian Santa Fe Medical Center opened in the fall of 2018 at a cost of $145 million.
Founded more than a century ago, the larger Presbyterian Healthcare Services, which currently owns and operates nine medical centers across the state, is the only private not-for-profit healthcare service in New Mexico.
