Plans have been announced for the building of a mixed-use project at the border of the city of Lafayette that would include both residential as well as retail space.
The project belongs to the Chicago-based Kensington Development Partners, which specializes in mixed-use projects and recently launched work on a similar mixed-use effort in Avon called Skjol.
The company’s Lafayette project will see the building of just over 450 residential units, along with 168,000 square feet of commercial space.
According to published reports, what is being called The Range will also include the popular retail chains Target and Trader Joe’s as anchor tenants.
The site in question is just under 39 acres at the intersection of Arapahoe Road and U.S. Highway 287. A sketch plan for the project was reviewed by the City of Lafayette’s Planning Commission last February and the City Council the following month.
Kensington, which also has offices in Denver, envisions a combination of both condominium and apartment residential space to be built within 22 buildings.
In a web posting, Kensington has said that the site, with “activated open space,” could additionally serve as the home to medical offices and “service-oriented retailers.”
A preliminary plan for the project was submitted to the City of Lafayette in late June.
A date for when work on The Range will begin has yet to be announced.
