A company that was only launched a year ago but already has raised more than $1 billion in capital has announced plans to build a sprawling data center facility in Avondale, Arizona.
The Denver-based Stack Infrastructure says the new facility will measure around 1 million square feet and will go up on 79 acres inside the Avondale Techplex, some 18 miles to the west of downtown Phoenix.
In a statement, Brian Cox, chief executive officer of Stack, said the company had decided to locate in metro Phoenix due to the area’s “access to power, fiber, and land,” which he said provided an “outstanding opportunity for scale.”
The new project will particularly feature private data halls, co-location capacity, and powered shell options.
Earlier this year Stack announced it was building a 700,000 square foot facility on a 125-acre campus in Manassas, Virginia, as well as a new data center on its existing campus in San Jose, California.
In May, the digital infrastructure company revealed plans to build a new two-story facility on a 6-acre site next to its existing data center in Alpharetta, Georgia.
