The City of Roswell has issued a Request for Proposals for engineering services at the busy and growing 5,000-acre Roswell International Air Center.
The RFP has a submission deadline of June 23.
Those services could entail a one-year contract, with the possibility of extensions, and will take in the eventual rehabilitation of eight taxiway asphalt shoulders; as well as the reconstruction of runways 17 and 35.
Work may also include the widening of taxiway B and the rehabilitation of the air center’s terminal.
Also in the planning stage: the widening of an east perimeter road; the reconstruction and expansion of the terminal’s parking space; and a drainage study preceding future drainage improvements at the site.
It is thought that many of the planned facility projects will be paid for wholly or in part through federal funds.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak and the downturn in air service traffic, the Roswell International Air Center is currently storing more than 300 planes from a variety of commercial airliners—the largest number of planes the airport has hosted in its more than 75-year history.
