Work is expected to begin later this summer on a series of pavement restoration projects in Santa Fe.
The City has issued a Request for Proposals for contracted work pertaining not just to pavement replacement, but also the restoration of concrete sidewalks, concrete curbs and gutters, and the replacement of concrete valve collars.
All of the work required to restore specific city driving, walking, and drainage infrastructure must be done in accordance with earlier formulated drawings and specifications.
Additionally, the project will see some cold milling work removing and salvaging existing paving material. That cold milling will most likely be used in the removal of an entire depth of paving to the underlying base or subgrade.
Cold milling machines typically create a level foundation after the removal of concrete or asphalt surfaces.
The salvaged materials will then be transported to either a designated recycling site or the city’s Transmission and Distribution Facility located at 801 W. San Mateo Road.
Submission deadline for the RFP is June 9, with the Santa Fe City Council expected to sign off on a pavement restoration contract in late July.
